Louisiana Creole (Kouri-Vini)
Beginner Course

Schedule: Saturdays (11:00 am-1:00 pm), 6 sessions (Sept. 26, Oct. 3, 17, 24, 31, Nov. 7)
Location: 602 Toulouse St, New Orleans. -
This introductory course is designed for students who are new to Louisiana Creole, commonly referred to as “Kouri-Vini,” and want to develop a strong foundation in the language. No previous French or Louisiana Creole instruction is required.

Le cinéma d’Afrique de l’ouest

Schedule: Wednesdays (5:30 am-7:30 pm), 3 sessions (Oct. 21, Nov. 4, Nov. 18).
Location: 602 Toulouse St, New Orleans. -
This class invites students to discover West African cinema from the 1960s, a period marked by decolonization and the emergence of a distinct African cinematic voice. Through films such as La Noire de..., students will explore how directors used the medium to grapple with questions of identity, independence, and post-colonial society, while building their vocabulary around film and history.

This class invites students to explore current exhibitions in Paris through the lens of Connaissance des Arts, the French arts magazine. Each session will focus on a specific exhibition, helping students build their arts vocabulary while engaging firsthand with content on view in France today.
