Fulbright France and the Nous Foundation are thrilled to have created the Fulbright scholarship program for Louisiana, a regional program aiming to bring French researchers to Louisiana for short research stays.

Each year, the Nous Foundation awards two Fulbright laureates an extra scholarship of $1,300, allowing them to come to Louisiana for a short research stay. Our laureates enjoy a tailor-made program and engage with the local research and cultural community. We also invite them to give a public conference to present their research.

Applications for 2025-2026 will open on September 1, 2024.

2023-2024

DR. CYRIL TRIOLAIRE

Dr. Triolaire is an associate professor of History and Theater Studies at the University of Clermont Auvergne, France. A historian of eighteenth and nineteenth-century France, Triolaire specializes in the history of fairground shows, theatre, and entertainment troupes that circulated within France and between France and the United States.

Dr. Triolaire is a Fulbright scholar at Florida State University (January-August 2024). Through additional funding awarded by the Nous Foundation, he visited New Orleans twice (February and April) to conduct research at the Historic New Orleans Collection and the Notarial Archives. He also gave a talk at Tulane on April 24, 2024, on the following theme: “From Fairground Shows to Curiosity Shows: Cultures, Practices and Mobilities in France and the United States (1770s-1810s)”.

FABIEN ENGER

Fabien Enger is a French trumpeter and composer from Strasbourg, Alsace. He was classically and jazz-trained in multiple conservatories and universities in Paris, Metz, and Strasbourg and has received various accolades in Europe and the USA. Awarded a Fulbright scholarship in 2022, he is currently pursuing his jazz graduate studies at Temple University in Philadelphia (2022-2024).

As one of the 2023-2024 recipients of the Nous Foundation’s Fulbright scholarship, he had the opportunity to fully delve into the rich and historical jazz culture of New Orleans, Louisiana, where he showcased his original music and met local artists, as well as representatives of the city's major musical and cultural institutions, as part of his artistic residency.
