OUR EXHIBITIONS

Since 2022, we have curated one original exhibition a year. Our first three exhibitions — The Louisianais.e (2022), 300 Years of French & Creole in Louisiana (2023), and Haiti-Louisiana: Tides of Freedom (2024) — were presented at the Historic BK House & Gardens.

In May 2025, we moved to our new gallery space at 602 Toulouse St, in collaboration with the Historic New Orleans Collection, and presented Musique(s), L’Exposition to celebrate the release of our Musique(s) project, an anthology of Louisiana music in French and Creole presented with the support of the Library of Congress.

Through this interactive and immersive exhibition, we presented the musicians and musical ensembles we worked with, putting their work in perspective with archival footage. We also presented extracts from our film and recreated a studio room where we played B-roll of the musicians performing while each song was playing.

Starting with our 2025-2026 season, we will start presenting two exhibitions a year in our new gallery space — because we love creating, and we love sharing the stories that shaped Louisiana.

LE CATALOGUE

Some of our original exhibitions are available for free (see links in the description of each exhibition). You are welcome to consult them as much as you want — but do contact us for any reproduction or use in public spaces. Merci!

  • The exhibition included 35 artworks by 8 artists, from both Haiti and Louisiana, and commissioned by Max Jean-Louis to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the Haitian Revolution. The exhibition also included 41 artworks (30 paintings and 11 beaded drapo) drawn from the Jacques Bartoli collection of Haitian contemporary art, previously presented in Paris (Grand Palais) and Miami. The exhibition, showcasing contemporary portraiture of historical and mythical figures, explored religious ties, climate change, and colonial legacies. For the opening of the exhibition, both RAM and Leyla McCalla performed for our over 200 guests.

  • The Louisianais.e (or The Louisianan) features the covers of a fictional magazine. Designed in the style of The New Yorker, these covers features original artworks created by talented and diverse artists from all around Louisiana. Each cover is set in the year 2050 so that each artist can creatively interpret the future of French and Creole cultures in Louisiana.  A scholarly text – presented as a magazine article in French and English – accompanies each cover to discuss its historical and cultural significance and provide additional references. This exhibit highlights how culture pervades every element of our daily lives (past, present, and future) and builds awareness of a culture that is slowly becoming less visible due to language loss and other challenges. Curated by our team, The Louisianais.e was originally presented at the West Baton Rouge Museum from October to December 2023 and went on to be presented at the Acadiana Center for the Arts from January to February 2024.
